2026 Stephens County Board of Elections Meeting Dates

July 7th and October 6th

The Board of Registrars and Elections reserves the right to change any of these dates and will provide proper public notice should such a change be made. All meetings will be held at 5:30PM unless otherwise noted. Public is welcome to attend.

Public Notices

PUBLIC NOTICE FOR LOGIC & ACCURACY TESTING

Pursuant to O.C.G.A §21-2-374(b) and O.C.G.A §21-2-379.25(c) notice is hereby given that the logic and accuracy (L&A) testing of the voting equipment to be used in the November 03, 2026, General Election will begin at 9:00 am on Thursday, September 24, 2026, and will continue day to day from approximately 9am-5pm daily until completed.

A General Election runoff, if needed, shall be held on December 01, 2026.  L&A for the December 01, 2026 runoff will commence on November 17, 2026 at 9:00 AM and will continue day to day until completed.

The testing and equipment storage will be conducted at The Board of Elections Office, 37 W. Tugalo St., Toccoa, GA 30577. The logic and accuracy testing process is open to the public.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL CALLED MEETING

Notice is hereby given that the Stephens County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will hold a Special Called Meeting on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. The meeting will be held at the Stephens County Historic Courthouse, 37 W. Tugalo Street, Toccoa, Georgia 30577.
Purpose of the Meeting:

• To consider and adopt the Call for the November 3, 2026, Special Election regarding the local alcoholic beverage referenda.
• To conduct any other business that may properly come before the Board.

Meeting Reschedule

The regular meeting of the Stephens County Board of Elections and Registration, originally scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., has been rescheduled.

The meeting will now be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse, 37 W. Tugalo Street, Toccoa, Georgia.

Notice of Called Meeting

The Stephens County Board of Elections and Registration will hold a called meeting on Tuesday February 3rd, 2026 for the purpose of considering the ESPLOST Resolution.  The meeting will be held in the downstairs meeting room of the Historic Courthouse located at 37. W Tugalo Street Toccoa, Georgia beginning at 5:30 pm.  The meeting is open to the public.

Risk Limiting Audit

The Stephens County Board of Elections and registration will conduct a Risk Limiting Audit of the November 04, 2025 Special Election for Public Service Commissioner as required by O.C.G.A. 21-2-498(b)(c) on a State race randomly selected by the Secretary of State.  The audit will begin at 9:00 am on November 13, 2025 and must be completed on November 17th, 2025.  The audit will be conducted at the Historic Courthouse located at 37 West Tugalo Street and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Absentee By-Mail Opt-In Status

Those that are eligible, meaning 65 years or older or disabled, may “opt-in” to receive absentee ballots for a full calendar year. Those individuals must mark “opt-in” as well as mark the reason that they are eligible to opt-in. At least one absentee ballot application must be filled out per calendar year before the first election you intend to vote in for that year even if you opted in in a prior year.

Drop Box Notice

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 21-2-382 C (1), a drop box that’s purpose is to collect absentee ballots shall be placed at the location of advanced voting for all elections and shall only be open for the days and times during which advanced voting is conducted. The Official Absentee Ballot Drop Box will be located inside the Historic Courthouse located at 37 W. Tugalo Street Toccoa Ga.

Georgia Presidential Preference Primary

Notice is hereby given that the 2024 Georgia Presidential Preference Primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Advanced in person voting will begin on Monday, February 19, 2024 and continue each week day until Friday, March 08, 2024. Mandatory advanced in person Saturday voting will take place on February 24 and March 02, 2024. Hours for advanced in person voting will be from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Election day voting hours will be from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm. ALL voting will take place at the Historic Courthouse located at 37 W. Tugalo Street Toccoa, Georgia. To request an absentee ballot, you can call our office at 706-886-8954 or visit mvp.sos.ga.gov. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is March 01, 2024. Certification Completion

Elections Supervisor Bruce Carlisle and Deputy Elections Supervisor Isaac Overstreet, have completed certification training to comply with OCGA 21-2-101(a).  Both are now recognized by the Secretary of State as certified Elections Registrars.

An Absentee Ballot Reminder

Please bear in mind that absentee ballots sent via mail must be received by the Elections Office by 7PM on Election Day in order for them to be counted in the election totals. Any ballots received after this time will be rejected even if they are postmarked for Election Day or earlier.

2022 Redistricting

Voters in Stephens County are not affected by redistricting at this time in terms of voting location, as Stephens County only has one voting precinct. Should any changes be made regarding precincts/voting locations in the future, proper notice shall be given to the public.

In-Person Voting Photo ID

Pursuant to O.C.G.A § 21-2-417, an elector must present one of the following types of identification when voting in-person:

–        Georgia Driver’s License (expired licenses are acceptable)
