The Board of Registrars and Elections reserves the right to change any of these dates and will provide proper public notice should such a change be made. All meetings will be held at 5:30PM unless otherwise noted. Public is welcome to attend.

We’re accepting applications for Poll Workers for the 2023 municipal elections to be held on November the 7th, with early voting running from October 16th to November 3rd.

TOWN OF MARTIN CALL FOR GENERAL ELECTION

Notice is hereby given that a General Election shall be held in Stephens County for the Town of Martin.  The election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 for the purpose of electing two (2) City Council positions and Mayor. Click to view the notice


Certification Completion

Elections Supervisor Bruce Carlisle and Deputy Elections Supervisor Isaac Overstreet, have completed certification training to comply with OCGA 21-2-101(a).  Both are now recognized by the Secretary of State as certified Elections Registrars.


Voter Registration Drive

April is Voter Registration Month, we will be holding registration drives at various locations throughout the county.  More announcements to follow.


Notice of Qualifying Fee

A General Municipal Election will be held by the City of Toccoa on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 for the purpose of electing three (3) members to the Toccoa City Commission with one member each to serve in Post 1 Post 2 and Post 4. Pursuant to OCGA 21 -2 -131 (a) ( 1) of the Georgia Election Code, notice is hereby given by the City Commission that a fee of $330.00 will be set as the qualifying fee for a candidate in the election to be held on November 7, 2023. This Notice is given on this12th day of January, 2023.

The Stephens County Board of Elections and Registrations will be conducting a Risk-Limiting Audit of the December 6, 2022 Runoff Election, beginning on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until complete.

This process will be conducted at the Historic Courthouse located at 37 West Tugalo Street, Toccoa, GA 30577 and is open to the public.

Processing will take place at 37 W. Tugalo Street, Toccoa, GA 30577 from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m

This notice is given in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-386(A) and SEB RULE 183-1-14-.14.

Notice is hereby given that the Stephens County Board of Elections and Registration will meet for a Special Called Meeting on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at 37 West Tugalo Street, Toccoa, GA 30577 to begin Early Tabulation of absentee ballots for the December 6th, 2022 General Election Runoff. Early Tabulation for absentee ballots will begin after 7:00 a.m.

Absentee By-Mail Opt-In Status

Those that are eligible, meaning 65 years or older or disabled, may “opt-in” to receive absentee ballots for a full calendar year. Those individuals must mark “opt-in” as well as mark the reason that they are eligible to opt-in. At least one absentee ballot application must be filled out per calendar year before the first election you intend to vote in for that year even if you opted in in a prior year.


Drop Box Notice

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 21-2-382 C (1), a drop box that’s purpose is to collect absentee ballots shall be placed at the location of advanced voting for all elections and shall only be open for the days and times during which advanced voting is conducted.


An Absentee Ballot Reminder

Please bear in mind that absentee ballots sent via mail must be received by the Elections Office by 7PM on Election Day in order for them to be counted in the election totals. Any ballots received after this time will be rejected even if they are postmarked for Election Day or earlier.


2022 Redistricting

Voters in Stephens County are not affected by redistricting at this time in terms of voting location, as Stephens County only has one voting precinct. Should any changes be made regarding precincts/voting locations in the future, proper notice shall be given to the public.

In-Person Voting Photo ID

Pursuant to O.C.G.A § 21-2-417, an elector must present one of the following types of identification when voting in-person:

–        State or Federal government photo ID

–        Georgia Driver’s License (expired licenses are acceptable)

–        Valid U.S. Passport

–        Valid U.S. Military ID

–        Valid Tribal Photo ID

–        “A valid employee identification card containing a photograph of the elector and issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the United States government, this state, or any county, municipality, board, authority, or other entity of this state”.


FREE Voter ID Card

We are happy to provide a free Georgia voter ID card to those in the community that require one. However, please be advised that identification must be verified in order to proceed. You may feel free to call and make an appointment to make your voter ID card or simply come to our office to start the process.
